G’day,
I’m Jono.
I’m building for my return to paid writing; learning a modern understanding of the communications landscape, practical knowledge of digital media, and refreshing my long dormant skills in quill and ink.
I’m currently studying the Graduate Diploma in Professional Writing at Deakin University, having obtained a B. Arts majoring in Creative Writing and Psychology from the University of Canberra in 2003.
I’m balancing the workload of a student with managing the household for my wife and hero Katie, children Archie (3) and Rory (1). We live on small acreage just outside Bowraville, NSW.

We would have adopted the seal too, if possible
I have been out of the profession of writing and creation for almost a decade; as an English teacher abroad, mediocre travel agent, and restaurant dishwasher, but most recently as a grower of tomatoes, cucumbers, and native fruits on the mid North Coast of NSW.
I have significant professional experience across a broad sphere of occupations in communications prior to 2010 – as journalist, communications officer, teacher and project manager, both in Australia and overseas.
We have the weirdest behaving cat in history, two paranoid dogs, and three horses – ranging in size and disposition from sweetly agreeable to total curmudgeon.
I like kids tv (through necessity), dinosaurs, the Hawthorn Hawks, occasional lunchtime wine, and the dream of eight hours continuous sleep.
I hope you enjoy the blog!
